Priti praises new facilities at the Witham Hub

Priti Patel, the Member of Parliament for Witham, has today (16.10.20) been shown photographs of the newly refurbished and revamped facilities recently installed and completed on the first floor of the Witham Hub.

They include an office and a custom-made meeting room. The Hub is a registered charity and has been able to finance the updating of their facilities via a generous grant provided by Braintree District Council.

The Witham Hub promotes social inclusion for the benefit of people living in the town of Witham and its surrounding areas by working to help prevent them becoming socially excluded.

Priti said: “Sadly I have been unable to visit to see the facilities in person, due to Covid-19 restrictions but the Hub has sent me numerous photographs which have given me a full appreciation of the way the upstairs facilities have been transformed. They look first class and help to make the Hub an even more impressive feature of our community. The Hub did tremendous work during the lockdown and continues to play a major role in supporting local people who are struggling to cope with the difficult economic conditions and who still need to shield”.

Tina Townsend, who runs the Witham Hub and Community Fridge as well as being a trustee of the charity said: “We’re really pleased with the changes we’ve made and we owe thanks to Braintree District Council for the grant that made it all possible Also our thanks to Scorpion Building Maintenance and C S Cox Ltd, who did the building and decorating work and to our wonderful volunteers who cleared the rooms and tidied up afterwards.”
